I’ve been in rope access for years, can I do direct entry to level 2 & 3?

Yes you can, however we need to make you aware of a few things regarding the process.

Firstly it’s not a simple process and it not only requires a fair amount of paperwork but there are a few additional costs and fees.

Secondly, the minimum training requirement for direct entry is 4 days training folowed by a 1 day assessment and training companies are not permitted to present below standard candidates for IRATA assessment.

To ensure you are up to the required standard you will be assessed continually during your initial 4 day training course. If we do not consider you to have meet the required standard we will not permit your to sit your assessment and you will be required to undertake additional training at your expense.

You will need to supply a record of your rope access work including –

1. A resume or CV detailing your rope access experience
2. A log of rope access hours worked including the follwing information date, location, type of site, height, role, access method, type of work and employing company. Logged hours must be verified by either a supervisor’s, level 3’s or equivilent, job manager’s or company owner’s signature or signed written statement.
3. Copies of any applicable certificates or qualifications e.g. expired Level 1, confined space, working at height, IRAANZ or SPRAT qualifications etc.) and training syllabuses.
4. References from previous employers covering the required amount of logged hours
5. Copies of safe operating procedure covering the required amount of logged hours

Candidates seeking direct entry IRATA level 2 require the following logged hours –

1. 1500 logged hours
2. 1000 of which are covered by supplied references
3. 500 of which have been gained working under the supplied safe operating procedures

Candidates seeking direct entry IRATA level 3 require the following logged hours –

1. 2500 logged hours
2. 2000 of which are covered by supplied references
3. 1000 of which have been gained working under the supplied safe operating procedures

Unfortunately we do need to cover the additional costs the direct entry process incurs. This means you’ll need to pay an additional adminstration and verification fee of $750 incl GST, in addition to our standard standard course fees. Should we also deem you to be below the acceptable standard for assessment after completeing your 4 day training we will require you to complete a further 4 day training course at a cost of $1150 incl GST.

Your final breakdown on course fees is as follow –

Mininmum 5 day IRATA training and Assessment – $1950.00

IRATA direct entry admiistration & verification fee – $750.00

Total – $2702.5 incl GST

Additional training if required – $1000.00

Total – $3700.00 incl GST
